No Lift, No Gift

Hello, it’s nearly Christmas.

I love Christmas and the decorations and jumpers are out in full force. However, I do feel a little redundant at this time of year, let’s be honest – selling fitness at Christmas is like selling ice to eskimos.

And do you know what, that’s ok! Christmas is not a time for wondering how many calories are in 4 and a half mince pies or how much protein is in 16 pigs in blankets (incidentally, I think it’s quite a lot).

It is healthy to stop and just enjoy food over the Christmas period. Consistency over 11.5 months of the year will not be undone by two weeks of getting after all the food and booze in reach.

One thing – Christmas is a great time to be active outside the gym. A great opportunity for winter dog walks with the family, visiting a Christmas market or ice skating at Somerset House.

So if the little voice in your head is making you feel guilty for enjoying a well-earned Christmas break, my advice is to let yourself off the hook. After all, the gym isn’t going anywhere, it will still be here in January when you’re ready pop in and get back to work…

Hello!

Welcome to my website! I am a gym owner and personal trainer. Despite this I am exasperated by the state of the fitness industry – it’s a Wild West of overcomplicated, unhelpful advice and unscrupulous companies and individuals out to muddy the waters in the hope they can sell you something.

I’m promoting fitness the way it should be done – simple (not easy). This is where I’ll post longer form thoughts about nutrition, workouts and anything ‘fitness’ related!

Join me on my mission to stop ‘fitness’ being a dirty word…
